Public Outreach & Communications
We value staying connected with the community! We do this by giving educational presentations to schools, nature clubs or other community groups, participate in public events whenever possible, and maintaining an active presence on social media.
What do we offer the public?
We value staying connected with the community and always keep an open ear to public groups, events and programs interested in learning more about nature, environmental awareness and local research projects. We provide a variety of ways to keep in touch with the public, including giving educational presentations to schools, nature clubs or other community groups, and participate in public events whenever possible.
We offer the following services:
- workshops on a variety of topics (e.g., plant and animal identification, animal handling, data collection techniques, best land stewardship practices)
- Presentations (e.g., species at risk, herpetology for beginners, local research projects, how to enhance biodiversity on your lands)
- Participation in public events (hand out outreach materials, "Joad the Toad" mascot)
- Volunteer opportunities (e.g., toad surveys, Bio-blitz, citizen science project participation)

Developed by the Fowler's Toad Recovery and Implementation Team, these pamphlets are often handed out at any public event!

This booklet gives more detailed information about Fowler's toad, their habitat and how to be good land stewards if you live on or near their critical habitat. These booklets are often handed out to land owners living along the Lake Erie shoreline!
Quebec and Ontario Stream Salamander Stewardship Guide
This booklet was developed by the Dusky Salamander Recovery Team, and it gives information on all species-at-risk stream salamanders found in Ontario and Quebec.
Spotted Turtle Stewardship Guide
This booklet gives detailed information about spotted turtles, their ecology, and threats to their survival. These booklets are often handed out to land owners living near wetland habitat across the Niagara Region.
Massasauga Stewardship Guide
This booklets gives detailed information about Massasaugas, other look-alike species, and threats to their survival. These booklets are handed out to land owners across the Niagara Region, living near wetland habitat.
American Water-willow Stewardship Guide
This booklet gives more detailed information about this aquatic plant. and how to be good land stewards. These booklets are often handed out to land owners living along rivers and streams across the Niagara region.
SAR Magnets and Stickers
We have a variety of species-at-risk magnets and stickers! We bring this swag to any public outreach event!
